To the editor:
Thanks for the coverage on MEA's wasting of co-op money on unnecessary advertising. It looks like the usual MEA management ploy to divert people away from the real issues — MEA's push for deregulation, serious safety violations and undocumented expenditures uncovered by regulators.
MEA signed a contract for three years. There is no reason to advertise and complain about an issue that won't arise again until 2004, unless MEA is really using co-op funds to push the board election to its bloc of pro-deregulation incumbents.
We've had a union board, and now the anti-union board is just as bad. MEA really needs a balanced board that cares about electrical service.
That's why I urge people to vote for Mike Janecek and Ken Klunder. They are not pro-union or anti-union. They are fair-minded, hard-working members of their respective communities. They oppose MEA's deregulation attempt and will work to stop unnecessary and hidden expenses.
Then MEA can be open and accountable to its members for a positive change!
