SUTTON - Join the Valley Mountain Bikers and Hikers for a leisurely, but sometimes steep, 2.5-mile hike to Eska Creek Falls.
The trail gains about 1,600 feet as it winds its way up through beautiful meadows to alpine tundra near the falls. It offers spectacular views of the Matanuska River Valley, Eska Peak and the falls.
The hike will take about four hours, and could be muddy this time of year. Bring water, lunch and rain gear, just in case.
There may be some good eating - berry picking - along the way and plenty of time to discuss trail work VMBaH can do next year.
Those who are interested in making the trek may meet Sharon McEntee at the Sutton Library, Mile .25 Jonesville Road, at 10 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 27.
People may car pool from there to a small trailhead off the old mine road.
For more information, contact Sharon at 745-3144.
