PALMER — Palmer Arts Council has organized a free evening of poetry with Alyse Knorr and Kate Partridge at 7 p.m., April 28 at Vagabond Blues.
The event includes an open mic segment and is part of April Poetry Month celebrations. Poets from the Valley are encouraged to come and share their work. Prior registration is not required.
Knorr and Partridge are new faculty members at University of Alaska Anchorage who earned their masters of fine arts degree from George Mason University. Both come with extensive publishing records.
Knorr is the author of two books of poetry, “Annotated Glass” published by Furniture Press Books (2013) and “Alternates” published by Dancing Girl Press (2014). Her poetry has been published in a long list of national publications. She is the co-editor of Grazing Grain Press, an inclusive feminist chapbook publisher.
Partridge has had poems published recently in four journals, Colorado Review, Barrelhouse, Rhino, and Better. She also is the coordinator of Crosscurrents Reading Series for 49 writers.
The Monday event is the poets’ first adventure into the Matanuska Valley and is made possible by a grant from Alaska State Council on the Arts.
