As a lifetime member of the Palmer Senior Citizens Center, I would like to extend an invitation to all Mat-Su Valley seniors 60 or older to visit our beautiful new Mat-Su Senior Services (the center’s new “doing business as” name) building located at 1132 S. Chugach St. in Palmer.
Amazing new features of the building include an activities room, library, spacious dining hall, up-to-date commercial kitchen, expanded gift shop and modern offices. Stop by for lunch. The salad bar opens at 11:30 a.m., and a hot meal is served at noon. The cost is a suggested donation of a nominal $5 per senior age 60 or older.
Mat-Su Senior Services is aptly named, offering the following services: home-delivered meals, transportation, information/referral services, adult day services, care coordination; support for caregivers, senior employment, equipment loans, the borough-wide Helping Elders Living Alone project, Better Choices/Better health meetings and notary services. In addition there are daily, weekly and monthly activities, including exercise classes, trips to Walmart, Bible study, bingo, board games and many other interesting things to do.
I hope all you Mat-Su Valley seniors who visit us are so impressed by our spacious new building and the services we offer that you would like to become a member. Annual memberships are $12, lifetime memberships are $100. So we can keep up with what’s happening, all members receive a copy of the Senior Chatter, our monthly newsletter.
The grand opening of Mat-Su Senior Services is from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., Oct. 19. Mat-Su seniors, plan to bring your family and friends and join us in celebrating this exciting day for Mat-Su Senior Services.
