Mike Chmielewski (pronounced ma-lef-ski) has lived in the city of Palmer for 25 years, served on the school board for six years — three of them as president — and has been on the Palmer City Council for three years. He knows Palmer, he knows how to work in the public sector, and he can devote his full energy to the position. The other candidates have their strengths, too, but none of them brings the experience and expertise to the position that Mike brings.
I am astounded that someone who moved to Palmer just a year ago and who has no public sector experience thinks she can do the mayor’s job effectively. I astounded, too, that someone who moved to Palmer four years ago and has two years on the council decided to run for mayor — even though he hasn’t even done a full term on the council.
Does experience and expertise count? We want our doctor, our lawyer, our car mechanic to have experience in their work — it makes sense to me that we’d want a public leader with experience. Mike is that choice. Mike wants to serve the residents of Palmer. He will give his full attention to the city. He’s my choice for mayor.
