Chicken University
Chicken University is offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., March 17 at the MTA Building Large Conference Room (downstairs), 480 Commercial Drive, Palmer. Learn the fundamentals of selecting birds, building coops, feeding, hygiene, getting hens to lay and, believe it or not, chicken psychology. Class size is limited to 40. Food Preservation Series
The six-class Food Preservation Series will be offered in March and April. Classes are $15 each, or all six classes for $85. Classes meet at the Mat-Su CES Office, 809 S. Chugach St., Ste. No. 2, Palmer. Register and pay online at bit.ly/ces-workshops.

Alaska Gardening 101
Alaska Gardening 101 teaches the fundamentals of gardening in Alaska. The two-hour class is offered from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., March 18 at the Cooperative Extension Service, 809 S. Chugach St., Ste. No. 2, Palmer.
This course will discuss starting plants, hardening off, composting, soil preparation, greenhouse fundamentals, plant selection and more.
