F. Verda Erickson, 94, passed away at her home in Palmer, Alaska on November 06, 2019.

Verda was born on January 14, 1925 in West Weber, Utah to William Howard and Florence Berlin. She was the oldest of three children. The family moved to Idaho. Verda spent time in American Falls, Pocatello, and Lewiston. Verda was an independent hard workingwoman. She put most people to shame.

Her husband spent most of his working career in the “bush” or at some far away military base.

She took care of the kids and the small farm usually alone. Verda worked at the Valley Hospital for 18 years.

She was in charge of the kitchen. She owned several apartment rentals over the years. Many of the people who lived in those apartments grew to respect and care for “Miss Verda” as part of their family. After retirement, you could always find her outside on her lawnmower, taking care of her beloved flowers and feeding the birds. Her family was her life’s work. She was like a parachute that was ready to open anytime someone started to fall. She made many landings a lot easier. She would usually give you a little smile and wink at the end of a visit. She will be waiting in heaven for all those who believe.

Verda is survived by her brother, Eldon Berlin of Clarkston, Washington, her children, Robert Erickson of Anchorage, LaVerda Arena of Olympia, Washington, LaMont Staker of Florence, Arizona, Flora Lovejoy of Wasilla, Howard Erickson of Palmer, Karen Ballard-Erickson of Palmer, Lennie Kay Larkey of Wasilla, 15 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

The service was held at 2 pm on November 16 2019 at Kehl’s Palmer Mortuary. Her ashes will be laid to rest at the Palmer Pioneer Cemetery.
