Facts and fallacies of Christianity

Many people today are looking for the true meaning of Christianity. What exactly are the rules that God has laid down in the Bible and how to apply them to their lives. Some teach their own rules and not the rules of the Bible much like the Pharisees did 2,000 years ago. In the past few months I have encountered some rules that I would like to address and the fallacy of these rules.

It is a sin to drink alcohol

Christ turned water into wine John 2:8-9 (KJV) Christ drank wine at the last supper. The Bible does not say grape juice as some “Bible scholars” like to teach. The Bible teaches that Christ was a man without sin. That being the case, then drinking is not a sin. Drunkardness is unacceptable behavior. 1Cor 5:11, “But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such a one no not to eat.”

It is a sin to dance

Dancing is addressed many times in the Bible. For me the most notable is II Samuel 6:16-20.

“And as the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord; and she despised him in her heart. And they brought in the ark of the Lord, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord. And as soon as David had made an end of offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord of hosts. And he dealt among all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, as well to the women as men, to every one a cake of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine. So all the people departed every one to his house. Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, “How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!”

Now that is some celebration.

It is a sin for women to use tampons (yes, you read that right)

I found absolutely no probations on women’s famine products other than to dress conservatively. To be frank, I see no reason why God would concern himself with the topic in as much as the Bible is about the soul, not female hygiene products.

These are only a few of the rules that the some of the contemporary religious churches have today. I find it amazing that some church leaders put themselves above Christ by making new rules and adding to the Bible. I must admit that I do not have the courage to tell God that that I am wiser than he is or that man needs to add to his perfect word. I very seriously take the words in Revelation 22:18-19.

“For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.”
