The Alaska State Fair is right around the corner and it is time to think RECYCLING. Last year, through volunteer efforts, we recycled 17.5 tons of recycling. Teams of volunteers wandered the trails, pulling wagons and retrieving recyclables and putting them in the recycling bins. A sorting team sifted through garbage to pull out the recyclables from the recycle bins to deposit cans and water bottles in the proper areas. Other teams gathered cardboard in the early morning hours and deposited 14 tons of cardboard in the recycle bins located in the orange parking lot recycling area. This couldn’t be done without volunteers. WE NEED YOU. Please volunteer for this worthy effort and get into the fair for free. Free parking passes are also available. Such a deal! We welcome groups (which will be featured by advertising signs on the back of the wagons.) Remember to put only cans and plastic bottles (no lids) in the recycle bins. It is no fun sorting through garbage to get the cans and bottles.
Contact me if you can help us reach our goal of 18 tons of recyclable items. A big shout out to all the Fair Vendors that participate in recycling. You are the best!
