The Alaska State Fair and Alaska Railroad will be partnering again for this year’s state fair.

A passenger train, dubbed “The Fair Train,” will run from the Anchorage Train Depot to the South Palmer Train Depot twice each day Friday, August 29 through Sunday, August 31. Passengers will have the opportunity to experience the fair without the worry of finding parking or experiencing traffic delays.

“The Fair Train is a part of the rich history of both the Alaska Railroad and the Alaska State Fair,” CEO of the Alaska State Fair Jeff Curtis said in a press release. “We are so grateful to the Alaska Railroad for their support of the Fair Train.”

The train will depart from Anchorage at 12:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. each day. Return trips will depart Palmer at 6:45 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. The ride in each direction is approximately 90 minutes.

Tickets for the train are $31 for adults, $21 for kids ages two through 11 and free for children under the age of two. Prices do not include fair admission.

“The Alaska Railroad is happy to once again partner with the Alaska State Fair to offer the Fair train. We’re always looking for opportunities to serve the community, and giving fairgoers a relaxing, enjoyable way to get to the Fair is one way we can do that,” Vice President of Marketing and Customer Service David Greenhalgh said in the press release.
