Sukkah celebration planned
The Mat-Su Jewish Center will hold an open house for its community Sukkah on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 6:30 p.m. at 2301 Lynx Circle in Wasilla in honor of the ongoing Sukkot holiday. The event will honor the board of Chessed Alaska, the primary sponsors behind the new Mat-Su Jewish Center. The Sukkot, holiday is part of the New Year’s celebration and follows Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Rabbi Joseph Greenberg, founder of the Alaska Jewish Campus in Anchorage, will be in attendance to address and thank the board. A sukkah is a hut of temporary construction used for seven days and nights during the holidays for meals and to serve as a temporary dwelling. Good Shepherd to hold family photo shoot
