Trinity plans ‘Longest Night’ event

Trinity Lutheran Church will open its worship center on Monday, Dec. 21 from 7 to 9 p.m. for anyone in the midst of grief or loss. “This time is designed to acknowledge both the grief and loss in one’s life and the hope that the birth of Christ brings,” according to a release issued by the church. There will be opportunities to light candles, sit in silence and hear songs of hope. The church is located at 10355 Palmer Wasilla Highway. Lamb of God Church on Church Road serves free soup and sandwiches from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesdays. All are welcome.

The Religious Society of Friends meets monthly

The Religious Society of Friends, a Quaker organization, meets the second Sunday of each month at Birchtree Charter School just off the Palmer-Wasilla Highway midway between Palmer and Wasilla. An un-programmed meeting for Worship and First Day School (Sunday School) starts at 11 a.m., followed by a time for refreshments.
