What a thrill it was to see my embroidered wall hanging on display at the Alaska State Fair!
In my entire life, 2018 is the very first time I have ever entered anything in any fair in any state in which I lived. When I submitted my embroidery piece on Aug. 10, I was asked, "Is this the first time you've done any embroidery?"
"It's the first time since I was a teenager doing embroidery under my Mommy's supervision!"
I know she would have been proud of me! So would my father. A friend gave me the stamped cross-stitch quote by Baha'u'llah: "Blessed is the spot...." There were no instructions on the colors of embroidery threads or how to finish it.
Since blue and purple are considered spiritual colors, I used them for all the basic words. For each of the different sites I chose a color that I thought was logical. Counting the frame, the entire wall hanging is 21" by 29." I chose a blue mat to harmonize with the blue embroidery thread.
I think it is such a beautiful quote -- and so wonderfully spiritual and can apply to all religious faiths and spiritual traditions around the planet. There is only one God and wherever we pray -- that place is blessed.
Our contemporary world needs so much more spirituality -- we all need to find our connection to God.
For me, every stitch on this embroidery piece was a micro-mini prayer in my apartment. I was acutely aware this was a one time experience. Even if I consider future embroidery projects to enter in the Fair, nothing will ever be as special as this year's experience. "Memories in the Making" is the 2018 theme of the Alaska State Fair.
For those who were not able to visit this year's Fair, here is Baha'u'llah's entire quote which I embroidered and it which on display in the Irwin Building on the Red Trail at the Alaska State Fair:
“Blessed is the spot, and the house, and the place, and city, and the heart, and the mountain, and the refuge, and the cave, and the valley, and the land, and the sea, and the island, and the meadow where mention of God hath been made and His praise glorified."
These are such beautiful words to contemplate and ponder and meditate and reflect on. I think it is such a beautiful quote I just wanted to share it.
I will always treasure my 2018 Spiritual "Memories in the Making."
