WILLOW — A woman who called Alaska State Troopers to say her grandson was being held in a car at gunpoint was arrested for making a false report and the driver for drunken driving.
According to a press release from Alaska State Troopers, the fake kidnapping was reported at 7:50 a.m., Wednesday.
“Investigation revealed Dorothy Clark, 58, of Wasilla, had falsely reported to individuals that her grandson was being held by a male in the vehicle at gunpoint. By doing so she placed the public, the juvenile and the driver of the van in danger,” troopers report.
Troopers say they pulled the vehicle over on Twitty Avenue after it pulled off of the Parks Highway.
They say the driver, Ronald Ranson, 48, of Wasilla, was driving drunk and on a revoked license. Drunk driving with a child in the car added up to a charge of reckless endangerment. He was jailed at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $25,000 bail.
Clark, meanwhile, was jailed in the same facility on $1,500 bail for making a false report and reckless endangerment.
