Family Promise Mat-Su is a nonprofit that offers families without housing compassionate care through shelter, meals and case management. Guest families are sheltered overnight in area churches and receive hospitality from volunteers. Staff provide case management, ensuring guests can regain their self-sufficiency.
At two recent events, the annual meeting March 9, and the Wizard of Oz VPA fundraiser April 12, volunteers donated time and money. Family Promise Mat-Su wishes to thank all, and specifically these wonderful volunteers:
Annual meeting
• Top-notch baristas Grace Kari and Alex Lindgren, who donated not only their time and talent, but also all the coffee and paraphernalia needed to produce a great latte;
• Amazing cheesecake entrepreneur Pat O’Donohue of the Alaska Cheesecake Company in Wasilla who provided handmade gourmet cheesecakes
Wizard of Oz fundraiser
• Once again, top-notch baristas Grace Kari and Alex Lindgren, donated time, talent, and their coffee paraphernalia;
• and, four restaurant/bakery owners who baked for this event and donated the most delicious cookies, cakes and brownies — Red Beet Restaurant, North Star Bakery, Bagels Alaska and Slack’s Sugar Shack.
Volunteers and donations must come from our community. Without these, Family Promise Mat-Su could not provide adequate service to Valley families in crisis. To these and the many business owners in the Valley who donate regularly, we are very grateful. Please support these local businesses.
Also, please save the date for our major fundraiser, Cardboard City from 5 p.m. to 8 a.m., July 20-21 at the Alaska State Fairgrounds.
