Fat bike enthusiasts celebrate Wasilla’s centennial with Saturday ride

WASILLA — Local nonprofit trails advocacy group Valley Mountain Bikers and Hikers is celebrating the City of Wasilla’s Centennial with a community fat-tire bicycle ride Saturday from 12-5 p.m. starting at the Menard Sports Center, 1001 S. Clapp St.

The ride, a roughly 10-mile loop utilizing the Clapp Street, Knik-Goose Bay Road and Parks Highway bike path, will start and finish at the Menard Center and include a stop at Lake Lucille Park for singletrack trail and lake riding.

The end of the ride will feature bike demos, food and hot beverages.

The event is for fat bikes only and helmets are required.
