An emeregency vehicle waits on the Parks Highway in Meadow Lakes on Thursday, Nov. 19 after responding to a fatal traffic accident that occurred just after 9 a.m. According to Alaska State Troopers, a sedan collided head on with a pick-up truck, killing one person and sending another to the hospital. WASILLA — Alaska State Troopers said an 81-year-old Wasilla man died in a two-vehicle vehicle accident that occurred shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday near mile 48 of the Parks Highway.

According to a trooper dispatch, a 2004 Chevy pick-up driven by David L. Fraker, 41, of Wasilla driving south on the highway when it crossed the centerline and struck a 2000 Dodge Intrepid heading north. The driver of the Intrepid, 81-year-old Vincent N. Jenkins, of Wasilla was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pick-up was taken to Mat-Su Regional Hospital with unknown injuries.

Troopers said in a press release that next of kin had been notified.

The crash occurred north of Wasilla in the Meadow Lakes area near the intersection of Blondell Drive and the Parks.

The road was closed for several hours while troopers investigated. It was eventually reopened at around 1:15 p.m.

Snowy, windy conditions on the roadway were reported in the area of the crash Thursday morning.
