Alaska State Troopers closed the Old Glenn Highway at about 6:30 p.m. Saturday after a fatal motorcycle accident at Mile 2.5.
Kathryn Ramsay, 40, of Wasilla was riding her 1984 Honda motorcycle southbound on the Old Glenn Highway near the power plant when she hit some gravel, struck the guardrail and her helmet flew off.
Ambulances called to respond “code red” returned to the station after the first responder on the scene determined Ramsay had no pulse, pupils fixed and dilated, deformity of the skull and other injuries “not conducive to life.”
She was declared dead on scene, according to Trooper spokesperson Beth Ipsen. She said Ramsay was riding with her next of kin and two other motorcyclists when the accident occurred.
The highway reopened to traffic about 10 p.m., Saturday.
