FEMA, state to test National Emergency Alert System

The Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency, state of Alaska and the Alaska Broadcasters’ Association will conduct a test of the National Emergency Alert System in Alaska at 10 a.m. today. The EAS is a public alert and warning system that uses the communications support of broadcasters, cable and satellite system providers that allow the President to address the American public during a national emergency. State and local authorities can also be use the system to deliver important emergency information such as severe weather and AMBER (child abduction) alerts. For information, visit ready.gov.
