Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

It is not enough to be for or against any particular issue, for if we are to be perceived as intelligent, thinking individuals, we need to have a grasp of the issues and concepts that surround the subject, as well as a consistent standard by which to measure it.
As a pastor, my goal is to teach my church the Bible, God’s standard of right and wrong, so thoroughly that no matter what the issue, they can discern between good and evil themselves.
Imagine for yourselves how foolish one would sound if they were to answer, “Because my pastor said …”
The issue of feminism is no different. I am not against it because I am male, though there are men who are. Equally offensive would be those who are feminist because they are female, though many are for that reason alone.
The truth of the matter is that God has created us with the capacity for intelligence because he wants us to use it. No, I am not a feminist because God is not one, neither is the Bible feministic — at least the King James Bible.
And before you go equating this with being against women, just understand that this also is ignorance. I married the one I loved above all others, I love all six girls she bore me as well as their brothers, was present each time she gave birth, and her birthday and our anniversary are still important to me.
Now, I mention avarice, that insatiable desire for gain, because the issue of money is one of feminism’s recurring themes. Indeed, it is so important that it is used as a marker for “women’s progress.” While the issue of “handicapping” is seldom addressed, it is clear that the movement will not rest content until womankind can earn as much, if not more, than mankind.
This fact was clear in the one article I read regarding corporate America’s top female performer, weighing in at a cool $3 million annually; but this was only a paltry sum when compared to the $18 million of the top male. But how much money does it take to buy happiness? Do you realize this is over $8,000 per day? This much monthly is only fantasy to folks like me.
That this is covetousness is without a doubt, but that it is also the love of money, which is the root of all evil (I Timothy 6:6-10), can be seen in what women are willing to give in exchange for it. Contrary to what many assert, the only reason it would ever take a village to raise a child is because his or her mother had left the child home. Listen up folks: There is no one on this earth so uniquely qualified to raise a child as the child’s mother.
Go ahead and parrot the mantra that “it’s for the children,” but to cheapen motherhood to bolster womanhood is to neglect childhood.
But there is more. I said the Bible is not feministic, and this is true. We don’t even need to go back to the Old Testament to prove this, though feminism at its core is a rejection of the consequences of the fall of man in the garden, and woman’s part in it, Genesis 3. No, the truth is that feminism has been around for a long time, and Jesus dealt with it in his day.
In Luke 11:27 a certain woman proclaims, “Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked.” While the virgin birth is an extremely important doctrine, what is being exalted here is the role of womanhood in bringing forth such a man, the womb and paps being the exclusive characteristics thereof.
Jesus, on the other hand, replies “Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.”
By this response we are to understand at least two things, the first of which is that all things pale in comparison to the Word of God, Jesus himself being the incarnate Word, and to the obedience thereof. Everything — including the issues surrounding the womb and paps — yet feminism cares little for what God has to say.
Secondly, the issue of keeping God’s Word has always been about choice. It is not enough just to hear what the Bible says, but it must be acted upon. Today’s Christian woman is free to make whatever choice she pleases, but just bear in mind that to embrace the serpent’s advice is to do so at one’s own peril.
