Fire in Sutton claims two

Over the Thanksgiving weekend, Alaska State Troopers were called to a report of a structure fire in Sutton. According to an online dispatch, troopers arrived on-scene in the morning hours of November 30 to find the structure fully engulfed while Sutton Fire and EMS worked to put out the fire.

Personnel later located the bodies of two individuals, later identified as Stephani Torgessen, age 43, from Ketchikan, and Dan Winters, age 66, of Butte. Examiner’s officer for an autopsy. Next of kin have been notified.

Alaska State Fire Marshals also responded and conducted a scene investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
