WASILLA — Asked to give statements in the ongoing investigation of a fire Alaska State Trooper say they believe was arson, Frontiersman employees sat down Monday with a deputy state fire marshal.
Dane Waisanen asked mostly questions about people Frontiersman reporter Andrew Wellner and photographer Robert DeBerry talked to or noticed at the scene of the blaze on Moose Meadows Road.
Thursday, the fire burned one or more structures in a tightly spaced cluster of buildings off of the road north of Wasilla in the neighborhoods off of Schrock Road, near the Little Susitna River.
According to her sister, the woman who lived at the residence said that someone showed up at her house looking for a third party. She turned the man away and not long after heard the fire popping and cracking.
Waisanen left the Frontiersman with his notes and also with digital copies of the photos the Frontiersman took at the fire, which are also posted in an online gallery at Frontiersman.com.
He did not say much about what direction his investigation is headed.
