PALMER — A fire at a downtown Palmer business was reported early Tuesday morning.
The Palmer Fire Department received a call of a fire at Car Deets, a car detailing service located off South Alaska Street. The fire started about 4:30 a.m. and continued to burn until about 7:30 a.m., Palmer Fire Chief John McNutt said. Car Deets, LLC President Jim Beach said that he was told by Fire Department officials that the fire started in the wiring above the ceiling.
“No one was hurt and for that we are truly grateful. Our Palmer shop was gutted this morning by a fire and a customer’s car was inside,” according to a post on the Car Deets Facebook page. “We love Palmer and the entire Mat-Su and we are looking for space to resume detailing as quickly as possible.”
Beach had been traveling in the Lower 48 and was informed of the fire just after it started after 4:00 a.m. Beach said that he hopes Car Deets hopes to be operational within a week in either a temporary or permanent location.
Palmer is home for our family and our business. We love the people,” Beach said.
