PALMER — The Soldotna Stars girls basketball squad opened the 2008 Northern Lights Conference Championships with a 50-28 win over the Kodiak Bears early Thursday morning.
Karen Senette scored eight of her game-high 19 points in the second quarter to help the Stars move into Friday's semifinal round. Paige Blackburn added 12 for SoHi, while Shelby Dykstra chipped in nine.
With an even 10 points, Alysa Horn was the lone Kodiak player to reach double figures in scoring. SoHi held six other Kodiak players to five points or fewer.
