Two organizations have planned Flag Day ceremonies for Tuesday, June 14.
• Palmer Elks Exalted Ruler Cindy Vasanoja Corey and officers of Palmer Elk’s Lodge No. 1842 will lead a Flag Day ceremony at 6 p.m. at Iditapark in Wasilla. Special guests include Wasilla Mayor Verne Rupright, Palmer Mayor DeLena Johnson and Houston Mayor Virgie Thompson. Also, Boy Scout Pack 54 will lead a formal flag-burning ceremony to properly dispose of unserviceable or worn out U.S. flags. For more information, visit palmerelks.org.
• The American Legion’s Flag Retirement ceremony is at 7 p.m. at the Susitna Valley Post 35. This solemn ceremony will dispose of unserviceable or worn out U.S. flags with great dignity and respect by burning the flags after proper inspection.
