Flood advisory issued for Yentna River

On September 10, the National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flood Advisory for the Yentna River near Lake Creek through 10 a.m. Saturday.

As rain continues, minor flooding is forecast to begin Thursday evening, with water levels peaking Friday morning. This could lead to flooding of low-lying cabins and areas.

Currently, levels at the river are near bankfull, meaning water levels have reached the top of the banks and are about to spill over into surrounding lands and vegetation.

Nearly an inch of rain has fallen over the past several days, with 1-2 inches more possible, according to the NWS. Currently, the Yentna River is expected to crest on Friday at nearly 21 feet. Flood stage is 20 feet.

Residents and visitors are urged to use caution and stay tuned to forecast updates.
