Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

Floy A. Johnson, 87, of Jamestown, Kan., died Jan. 4, 2006, at Cheyenne Lodge Nursing Home, Jamestown, Kan. Services will be at 10 a.m., Saturday at United Methodist Church, Jamestown, Kan., with the Rev. Russell J. Gotschall officiating. Burial will be at the Jamestown Cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson was born Jan. 6, 1918, in rural Scottsville, Kan., to Carl Bell Hunter and Gladys Marguerite Hillan. She married Sidney C. Johnson on July 19, 1935, in Scottsville, Kan. He preceded her in death May 8, 2001. She was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Leah Chapter No. 182. They lived and farmed all their lives in the Jamestown community. She attended the United Methodist Church in Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sidney C. Johnson; son, Floyd Johnson; parents; sister, Geneva Pracht, and brother, John Hunter.
Survivors are her son, Sidney Charles Johnson Jr., and wife, Ronda, Bennington, Kan.; daughter, Natalia Swaim, and husband, Bob, Dodge City, Kan.; daughter, Phyllis Martin, and husband, John, Palmer; daughter, Jody Johnson, Homer; daughter, Cynthia Biggs, and husband, Don, Ft. Collins, Colo.; sister, Charlotte Mooney, Salina, Kan.; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from noon-9 p.m. today at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today, at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.
