Friends of Mat-Su would like to take this opportunity to clear up some confusion between our organization and the Friends of Hatcher Pass.
Friends of Mat-Su (FoMS) is not associated with the Friends of Hatcher Pass (FoHP). Unlike FoHP, Friends of Mat-Su (FoMS) is a 501c3 nonprofit that has been granted tax-exempt status by the federal government because we serve a public good.
FoMS is open to anyone who wants to join.
Our membership is currently over 300, with members living across both the Matanuska and Susitna valleys.
FoMS' purpose is to provide education and information on land-use issues and community planning to the general public. We seek to encourage responsible development and creation of quality communities.
We strongly support public process and public participation in planning our communities.
We seek consensus and compromise because inclusion of diverse opinions will make for better overall decisions in guiding community growth. And, finally, Friends of Mat-Su is NOT involved in any lawsuit against the Matanuska-Susitna Borough.
If you have any questions or would like more information about joining Friends of Mat-Su (FoMS) please contact us at friendms@pobox.alaska.net or
call 746-0130.
