Palmer plays Wasilla

Palmer takes on Wasilla tonight in the annual Potato Bowl. Both teams come into the game very evenly matched. Both teams feature fine defenses that can stifle an opponent's offense. Both teams also have a fine stable of running backs who can break big runs at any time. The advantage may tip to Wasilla because of the Travis Webb factor. With Jake Carney healthy again to quarterback Wasilla's offense, the Carney-to-Webb combination may make the difference in the game.

Palmer won last year's event 21-0 and Wasilla won the year before, 24-7.

Tonight's game has the makings of a classic Valley matchup. The game starts at 7 p.m. in Veterans Memorial Field. The junior varsity game starts at 4 p.m.

Colony hosts

Juneau-Douglas

The games don't get any easier for Colony, as they host the top ranked team in the state Saturday at 1 p.m. Colony must improve on both sides of the ball to win this game.

Colony's defense was overwhelmed last week by West Valley's big running backs. They must contain the runners and make the tackles.

Houston hosts ACS

Houston looks to rebound after losing a squeaker last week in Homer, 9-8.

The Hawks play Anchorage Christian School Saturday at 4 p.m. in Houston.

Houston is off to a 1-4 start this year, losing two of the four games by one point. They have not backed down from playing large schools, gaining experience that may help them in coming weeks.
