Football: T-Birds edge Colony

WASILLA — Despite a late Colony push, East Anchorage held on to score a 14-13 nonconference win over the Knights at Bartlett High School Friday.

Colony senior Steven Bilafer rushed for a team-high 97 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the loss. Bilafer used a 1-yard run to help Colony take a 7-6 lead into halftime. After East jumped ahead 14-6, Bilafer broke free for a 26-yard touchdown score to bring the Knights within a poing.

Bilafer also completed three passes for 66 yards.

Cade Havel added 48 yards on 10 carries.

Johnny Afuvai scored both touchdowns for East. Afuvai used a 2-yard run to cut Colony’s lead to 7-6 in the first half. Early in the fourth quarter, East took a 14-6 lead with Afuvai’s 1-yard touchdown and La Atanoa’s ensuing two-point conversion.
