A former Colony High School hockey standout was recently recognized by the North American Hockey League.

Bryant Marks, a 5-foot-11 goalie for the Corpus Christi Ice Rays, was named the NAHL South Division Star of the Week.

Marks made 30 saves in a 3-2 win over the Odessa Jackalopes on Dec. 29 and 36 saves in a 4-3 win over Odessa the following day.

“Bryant had a solid weekend for us. If it wasn’t for him, we wouldn’t have gotten the two wins and four points. He was outstanding. I’m very proud of him,” IceRays head coach Sylvain Cloutier said in a press release issued by the NAHL.

Marks, a UAA commit, is in his third season playing Junior A hockey in the NAHL. He is 7-9-0-1 in 19 games in Corpus Christi this season, with a 3.51 goals against average and .984 saves percentage. Marks also notched his first career junior hockey shutout this season.

Marks also spent two seasons with the Kenai River Brown Bears. Last year, Marks was 6-8-1-0 with a 3.10 GAA and .907 saves percentage. As a rookie in 2021-22, Marks was 5-16-2-0 with a 3.76 GAA and .891 saves percentage.
