A former Colony High School standout is coming home.

Indiya Clarke, who played her first three seasons of high school basketball with the Knights before moving to Maine with her family, has committed to a scholarship agreement with the UAA women’s basketball program, according to Seawolves athletics.

Clarke had played the last three seasons with Division I Wofford, in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

“We are so excited to have Indiya come back home to represent Alaska,” UAA head coach Ryan McCarthy said in a press release issued by UAA athletics Wednesday. “We recruited her out of high school and admired her success at Wofford. She is a special athlete who can play multiple positions and will make an immediate impact. I think her best basketball is ahead of her and am so glad it’s going to be in a Seawolf uniform. With the current climate in the NCAA, our program is in a prime position as a destination for star players like Indiya who want to end their careers on a high note.”

Clarke, a 5-foot-11 guard and forward, averaged 5.6 points and 4.3 rebounds in 67 career games, during her first three seasons for Wofford.

Clarke saw action in all 30 games as a sophomore, recording 7.5 points and 5.8 rebounds for a Terriers squad that went 17-13 overall and placed runner-up in the Southern Conference. Included among her big games that season were 15 points (6-8 FG, 3-4 3FG) in a 71-70 road upset of Virginia and 15 points in a pair of wins over UNC Greensboro.

Clarke moved to Maine prior to her senior season in 2021-22. She made an immediate impact for her new program at Cony High School in Augusta, Maine. Clarke was first-team all-state in Maine’s Class A, or large schools level. Clarke was also a two-time all-state selection for the Knights. She was named first-team as a junior and second-team as a freshman. Clarke was also the Northern Lights Conference Player of the Year as a junior in 2021.

Clark is the second Valley product among the five players currently in UAA’s 2025 recruiting class, joining Wasilla High freshman Mylee Anderson, who was recently named first-team all-state for the third straight season. The class also includes Juneau-Douglas senior Kerra Baxter and Tikigaq senior Jennifer Nash.
