WICHITA, Kan. — Stephen Branca is picking up right where he left off.

The former Mat-Su Miners infielder who was picked up by the Alaska Baseball League champion Peninsula Oilers for postseason play, drove in four runs to lead the Oilers to a 14-1 win over the Northwest Honkers during the first round of the National Baseball Congress World Series in Wichita, Kan., Thursday.

Branca, serving as the Oilers’ designated hitter, finished 3 for 4 with two runs and four RBI. The Tennessee-Wesleyan incoming senior, who was named the Miners’ most valuable player last week, doubled and singled three times.

The Oilers next play the San Diego Force on Friday.
