More than 150 runners leave the starting line in snowy conditions Saturday at the 2013 Mat-Su Rotary 5-K at Colony High School.

PALMER — A pair of former Alaska Anchorage All-Americans owned the top two spots of the Mat-Su Rotary 5-K Saturday morning.

Alfred Kangogo, a three-time Division II All-American on the college track, beat the snow and more than 150 competitors, while posting his first-place mark of 16 minutes and 38 seconds. Kangogo was also able to edge another former UAA All-American, David Kiplagat, who entered the race as the defending champion. Kiplagat clocked a time of 16:39.

Palmer High senior Chris Osiensky finished third at 17:21. Christopher Ashland, the 2012 Mat-Su Rotary runner-up, was fourth in the men’s race, with a time of 18:24.

Hallidie Wilt, another former UAA track and field athlete, won the women’s class with a time of 19:14. Stacy Strabel, a Colony High running coach, was second at 21:17.
