A former Mat-Su lawmaker is dead following an accident along the Glenn Highway early Tuesday evening.
Victor Kohring, 64, of Wasilla, was identified by Alaska State Troopers as the deceased. Kohring was the driver and lone occupant of a Toyota minivan that collided with a semi-truck after crossing the center line for unknown reasons, according to troopers. AST received a report of the accident near Mile
53 of the Glenn Highway just after 5 p.m. on Tuesday.
The AST Bureau of Highway Patrol conducted an investigation of the crash scene and assumed case responsibility for the investigation.
Kohring, a Republican, served Wasilla in the Alaska House of Representatives. He was first elected in 1994 and served seven straight terms before resigning in 2007.
