Palmer High School senior Zac Forsyth signed his national letter of intent Monday to attend the University of Alaska Fairbanks and play basketball with the Nanooks.
Forsyth will receive a 60-percent scholarship from the university to play basketball.
"I'm really happy to have this done," Forsyth said. "I was impressed with the coaches and the team when I visited there two weeks ago."
Forsyth, a 6-foot-3 inch guard for Palmer, played all four years of high school with the varsity Moose basketball team.
UAF and many other smaller schools coveted the services of Forsyth, scouting games and discussing options during the season.
"UAF is a quality Division II school," said Palmer coach Brandon Blake. "They feel that he can come in and contribute next year."
Forsyth is slated to fill the shooting guard position, with initial playing time coming off the bench behind a returning senior.
"We are ecstatic about this," said Forsyth's mother, Cindy Ziegler. "UAF came to his games and made him feel a part of their program."
