WASILLA — Thieves stole items from at least four cars parked outside Valley Cinema this week, authorities said.
The majority of the break-ins happened Saturday night after 9 p.m., according to Wasilla Police Sgt. Chris Watchus. An additional break-in happened Tuesday night, a victim said.
The new rash of break-ins comes roughly a year after an under-cover operation by police spotted thieves entering unlocked cars and removing items, according to Watchus and theater employees.
Break-ins aren’t uncommon in the area, which includes the Valley’s lone Walmart, Watchus said. He urged local residents to be cautious.
“The best thing I would say you can do is: don’t leave your purse or your iPhone in plain sight where someone can see it,” he said.
A list or estimated value of stolen items wasn’t immediately available Friday afternoon.
