HOUSTON -- A Meadow Lakes man remains in critical condition after he and three others were injured in a Sunday night collision between a four-wheeler and a vehicle.
The Meadow Lakes and Big Lake ambulance crews responded to what was initially called in as a four-wheeler accident at 11:30 p.m. Sunday night on Pittman Road. Emergency responders found the four-wheeler on its side at 1.5 Mile Pittman. Its two passengers, Evett Henry, 19, of Anchorage and Tom Tocktoo, 30, of Koyuk, were injured.
The driver of the car, Heather Simas, 29, of Wasilla, and a passenger, Shawn Himes, 33, had been ejected from the vehicle. An emergency helicopter was required for Himes, who was taken to the Alaska Native Medical Center. He remains in critical condition. Simas was taken to Valley Hospital.
Several people called in the accident to dispatch, said Meadow Lakes Ambulance captain Ross Crawford. As they approached the scene, another responder noticed car tail lights off the road, and that is when they found the Firebird crashed into the trees.
Alaska State Troopers reported the Firebird had struck the four-wheeler while both were traveling northbound on Pittman. The Firebird reportedly lost control and went off the road. An investigation is continuing.
Henry, Tocktoo and Simas are recovering from head injuries sustained in the accident, according to reports. Himes is currently listed in critical condition.
