My Willow Elementary School fourth-grade students and I would like to thank Peggy and Steve of Willow Air for kindly allowing us to use their floatplane dock again this year to conduct an aquatic field study of Willow Lake on Friday, Oct. 4 as part of our JASON Project and FOSS Science studies.
Our research was a huge success thanks to their support! Students measured air and water temperatures, pH in three different formats, dissolved oxygen levels, turbidity via Secchi disk, density with a hydrometer, current speed and they completed a study site report. We have submitted our data to a worldwide watershed database.
Without wonderful community support like theirs, authentic, hands-on learning cannot happen. Thank you Willow Air!
