Fourth of July parade winners announced

WASILLA — An estimated 7,000 people attended the annual Independence Day Parade followed by the Mayor’s Community Picnic in downtown Wasilla July 4.

And Benny and Marlene Cottle were honored as Grand Marshalls of the parade, which included 65 entries from local groups.

Mat-Su Sertoma Club judged the Museum of Alaska Transportation and Industry’sentry as the parade’s overall winner. Other winners are:

Theme — “Star Spangled Salute

First, Sportsman’s Warehouse; second, Church on the Rock; and third, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church

Vehicle

First, Central Mat-Su Fire Department; second, Little Dog Closet; and third, Colony Assisted Living

General

First, Sonya’s Studio of Dance; second, Denali Gymnastics; and third, Wasilla Area Seniors
