Chatanika resident Franklin Scott Butterfield, 38, died Dec. 28, 2005, at his home.
A memorial potluck was held at 6 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 1, at Chatanika Lodge. Mr. Butterfield was born March 8, 1967, in Fairbanks, and was a lifelong resident of Chatanika.
As a core driller for precious metals, Mr. Butterfield was able to travel the world but always thought of Alaska as home.
He loved to play outdoors, winter or summer. He was a devoted husband to his best friend and wife, Monica, and a wonderful father to his son, Eli, and daughter, Jessica.
His family wrote, “There was nothing he couldn't do. He loved life, was always in good spirits and loved to tease. Scotty was a loving husband and daddy and son, we will greatly miss him.”
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Charlotte “Charlie” Butterfield. He is survived by his wife, Monica, son, Eli, and daughter, Jessica, all of Chatanika; father, Frank Wells; mother, Katy Butterfield; sisters, brothers, and many co-workers and friends. Arrangements were by Chapel of Chimes Funeral Home.
