Free heavy equipment, mechanics, and other introductory training set for summer

Alaska Works Partnership has announced its upcoming summer free training schedule for the Heavy Equipment, Mechanics, and Welding Fabrication for July and August in Palmer.

Courses include Heavy Equipment Operating, Helmets 2 Hardhats (for veterans, military spouses, and reservists) Heavy Equipment Operating, Heavy & Light Duty Mechanics, and Intro to Welding & Fabrication.

To be eligible, applicants must submit an online application, along with a copy of birth certificate, high school diploma or GED certificate and transcripts, copy of social security card, copy of DD214 (Veterans only), a valid driver’s license (must be Alaska driver’s license by start of training), and while optional, applicants should submit a resume, trade school certificates, college transcripts, letters of recommendation, etc.

Established in 1996, Alaska Works Partnership is a non-profit that connects Alaskans with job opportunities in construction, providing education, training, and a path to a rewarding career with good pay, benefits, and a lifetime of skills through free, introductory training.

There are other trainings and programs held throughout the year designed to help Alaskans become more employable in obtaining good-paying jobs in Alaska's trade industries such as construction, maritime, oil and gas, transportation, and mining. Classes are held locally in Wasilla and Palmer, as well as Anchorage and Fairbanks.
