A pair of freshmen led Wasilla to a big girls basketball win over rival Palmer.
Warriors freshman Layla Hays scored a game-high 22 points during a 53-36 win over the Moose Wednesday night at Wasilla High School. Fellow freshman Mylee Anderson added 11.
Hays scored a dozen in the second quarter and 10 of Wasilla’s 15 fourth-quarter points. Anderson hit a trio of three-pointers. Bella Hays added nine for Wasilla.
Paige Anderson led Palmer with 13. Alyssa Clark added seven.
The Palmer boys forced the varsity split with a 66-58 win over the Warriors.
Elzavier Bradley led Palmer with 24 points. Arlin Mathis scored 18 points. Gavin O’Brien added 13.
Parker Kroon led Wasilla with a game-high 27. Arthur Adams finished with 13.
