Friday Fling 2022 season wrapping up

PALMER — The final Friday Fling of the 2022 season is Aug. 12.

Greater Palmer Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Ailis Vann said that it was a pleasant and productive summer full of talented vendors, live music, and a steady supply of visitors shopping and having fun in downtown Palmer through this beloved annual tradition.

“Everything went fantastically. I think the season went really well. It’s great that Friday Fling has become such an integral part of Palmer’s culture,” Vann said.

According to Vann, 110 vendors participated over the course of the summer. She said that’s slightly higher than normal, but it’s still close to the average they see every year.

Several new vendors sign up for this season, including a food truck called the Sea Garden. Vann said that she always enjoys seeing the economic growth Friday Fling brings out.

“It helps entrepreneurs a lot which is very exciting for our community,” Vann said. “I love the entrepreneurial spirit of Friday Fling. It’s fun to see people grow their businesses every year.”

There were two live performances by local musicians every week at Friday Fling. Vann said the Chamber aims to feature music all day next year. She said they oversee one of the longest-running farmer markets in the state and it’s their mission to keep it fresh, lively, and true to its time-honored traditions.
