PALMER — The 2023 Friday Fling season is officially over.
This weekly outdoor marketplace managed by the Greater Palmer Chamber of Commerce. Each year, it takes place in downtown Palmer near the library and museum, and it features an array of local vendors selling a variety of goods ranging from farm-fresh produce to handmade gifts. It also features live music performed by local artists each week.
According to Palmer Chamber Executive Director Ailis Vann they saw a large turnout in the overall attendance this summer.
"It's always great to see the influx of visitors and the locals coming out to visit and support everyone," Vann told the Frontiersman.
Over 100 vendors participated in Friday Fling over the course of the 2023 season. Vann said the unfavorable weather conditions didn't deter dedicated locals looking for an enjoyable summer activity that's suitable for all ages, and it even seemed like there was an overall increase in foot traffic compared to previous seasons.
"Vendors are reporting seeing more visitors than the last couple of years," Vann said.
Now that Friday Fling has come to an end, the next major event hosted by the Palmer Chamber will be the Colony Christmas Parade in December.
"It's always sad when the season comes to an end, and it seems to go by faster each year," Vann said.
