From the blotter: Biter bounced from bar

WASILLA — Alaska State Troopers say a bite from an unruly patron caused “significant physical injury” to the arm of a Rumrunners bouncer Sunday.

According to an AST press statement, 911 calls about a fight at the bar and resort on Wasilla Lake came in at 3:20 a.m.

Troopers say Bryce Danford, 33, and Ruben Sandoval, 26, both of Wasilla, were drunk at the bar — which is against the law — and were being ejected.

“Sandoval bit a security guard on the arm, causing significant physical injury,” troopers report.

Danford was arrested for disorderly conduct and being drunk on a premises licensed to sell alcohol. Sandoval was charged for drunk on premises and assault.

Both were lodged at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility — Danford on $2,000 bail, Sandoval on $1,500.

Extensive damage done to home

PALMER — Smashed windows and damage totaling more than $10,000 were discovered last week at a home on Norman Avenue.

According to an Alaska State Trooper press statement, troopers think burglars broke in sometime on Feb. 21. The damage was reported to authorities on Thursday.

Burglars hit both the home and a nearby outbuilding.

“Both structures sustained substantial damage, in excess of $10,000,” troopers report.

Local man cited for tree-cutting

MAT-SU — A Palmer man was ticketed last week for cutting down trees larger than the law allows.

According to a trooper press statement, Gilman C. Beito, 28, was cited for cutting down trees larger than 5 inches in diameter. That’s against the law in the Knik River Public Use Area. Beito’s ticket came with an $85 fine.
