BIG LAKE — Alaska State Troopers are looking for a man they say ran from them on an ATV up the Parks Highway this week.
At 8:54 p.m., Monday, troopers tried to stop Amber R. McKinnon, 25, who they knew was wanted on multiple felony warrants. McKinnon and Andrew Oakes, 22, of Big Lake, were riding ATVs near the highway’s intersection with Big Lake Road.
According to a trooper press statement, McKinnon was quickly captured after she fell off her ATV trying to negotiate a sharp turn. Oakes kept going.
Troopers say they followed him to a spot off Forest Hill Drive where Oakes ditched his ATV and ran.
McKinnon was taken to Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, treated for minor injuries, then arrested and jailed at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility on $15,000 bail. Jail records Thursday afternoon showed she was still there.
Her warrants include several for burglary and theft charges and one for drug misconduct. She faces a new charge of failing to stop for a peace officer.
Drunk man threatens family with shotgun
TRAPPER CREEK — Troopers say a struggle over a shotgun ended Wednesday without injury.
According to a trooper press statement, at midnight on Aug. 26 troopers were called to a Trapper Creek home where William Lister, 21, had allegedly gotten into an argument with a family member, “and threatened to kill that family member with a shotgun.”
Troopers say that led to a struggle over the shotgun and Lister was disarmed. They also say he was drunk at the time.
Lister was jailed at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility without bail, charged with third-degree domestic violence assault and fourth-degree weapons misconduct. Jail records Thursday afternoon showed he was still incarcerated.
