FROM THE BLOTTER: Gun fired during domestic dispute

KNIK — A 60-year-old man was jailed after Alaska State Troopers say he fired a gun in a home off Caramel Road.

According to a trooper press statement, at 1 a.m. Saturday officers went to the home and spoke to Kenny D. Dodd, 60, of Wasilla.

Troopers allege Dodd assaulted a family member and fired a gun, doing damage to the home. He wasn’t the only one arrested — Joseph N. Dodd, 33, of Wasilla, allegedly assaulted a family member and broke a window in the home.

Kenny Dodd was charged with domestic violence assault and weapons misconduct. Joseph Dodd was arrested for domestic violence assault and criminal mischief. Both were jailed at the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility without bail pending arraignment.

Jail records Monday afternoon showed the older Dodd had since bailed out but the younger Dodd remained incarcerated.

Passenger who flees pursuit tracked down

KNIK — Alaska State Troopers say a Wasilla man they tried to pull over for speeding stopped during the ensuing pursuit to let his passenger out.

The passenger, Jessy P. Jenny, 29, of Wasilla, was apparently wanted on an outstanding $2,500 warrant for failure to appear on an assault charge, troopers say.

The chase began shortly after 3:30 p.m. Thursday when troopers tried to pull over Samuel L. Bannon, 29, of Wasilla, at Mile 14 of Knik-Goose Bay Road.

Troopers say that instead of stopping, Bannon turned down side streets and eventually let Jenny out of the car. But troopers tracked Jenny down anyway.

Bannon was charged with hindering prosecution and cited for speeding, lacking proof of insurance and not having a child in a car seat.

Jenny was booked into the Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility for the warrant. Jail records Monday afternoon showed he was still there.
