On Friday, Sept. 20, the Frontiersman and its staff paid tribute to long-time employee and friend, Cyndi Sandoval, who lost her battle with cancer in 2001. A dedication plaque was unveiled, overlooking a recently
installed memorial garden, planted in Cyndi's honor. Employees and friends gathered as business manager Tracy Ressler spoke about Cyndi's more than 17 years of service to the Frontiersman and her contributions to the inner workings of the newspaper. Cyndi's final position with the Frontiersman was as production manager. She helped the Frontiersman take its first steps toward the modern era of newspaper publishing -- electronic pagination -- and was a constant source of reference because of her many years of living and working in the Valley. In closing the memorial dedication, a small amount of Cyndi's ashes were spread throughout the garden area, which is located at the front entrance to the Frontiersman office building.
