WASILLA — The annual Frontline Mission Clothing Giveaway is set for Saturday, July 23 from 11 to 3 p.m.
“It’s gonna be a great event. Everyone is welcome,” Frontline Mission Executive Director Mathew Sheets said.
With the coming school year just around the corner, this event is an opportunity for local families facing financial hardships to provide their children with new and gently used school clothes.
This event also features free lunch and prizes awarded to visitors throughout the day.
“We’re super excited for it,” Sheets said.
The annual clothing giveaway is a longtime tradition for Frontline Mission that puts the needs of the community first, according to Sheets.
“It’s important to us because there’s a lot of different folks with different circumstances,” Sheets said. “It’s just a lift for them. It’s just one less thing for them.”
Sheets said they’re expecting to serve upwards of 400 individuals and families this year. While this event is geared toward back to school, there will be clothing items for all ages, including infants and toddlers.
“If they need clothes this is the place to go,” Sheets said.
All clothing items come from community donations.
“This is really because of the community,” Sheets said.
Frontline Mission offers food, clothing, showers, and other services to the community each week at their main campus located at 2001 East Palmer-Wasilla Highway, near Fred Meyer and Wasilla Lake.
“We’re super thankful for the volunteers who come in every week to make serving the community possible,” Sheets said.
